Is it too early to put your Christmas tree up? Poll says yes

TWO-thirds of people think it is too early to put up your Christmas tree, according to an online poll by The News.

Sixty-six per cent of readers said November was too soon for any festive decorations, with 34 per cent saying they already felt festive.

Christmas trees have been spotted in windows across Portsmouth and the surrounding areas, while companies have also started their pre-Christmas adverts and sales.

Readers on The NewsFacebook page also had their say on the subject. Stacey Kerman posted: ‘If people want their tree up what’s the problem? I’ve got my tree up.

‘It’s not affecting anyone and my family love it.’

And Kelly Angelo wrote: ‘It’s never too early when you have kids.’

But others on Facebook were less keen to get into the Christmas spirit in November. Melanie Goffe said: ‘Too early for me, I’d be fed up of the sight of it by Christmas. Mid-December is my preference.’ Toni Shawashi added: ‘I generally stick to the 12 days before, 12 days after rule and prefer to keep all things Christmassy nearer to Christmas itself.’

And Ally Lambell agreed:

She posted: ‘Yes, far too early. Kids get so excited and the longer they see the trees and decorations the harder for the parents.

‘We never put our tree up until a week before Christmas and still do the same.’

A total of 305 people had completed the poll by Saturday afternoon.
