David Jones, managing director of Triton Scuba and Watersports in Eastney, is on a mission to raise awareness of the cruelty involved in harvesting fins for the traditional dish.

He saw a programme, which revealed the way shark fins are harvested and decided to put a stop to it.

And he has already had success. He approached the owner of Chez Choi and Noble House, both in Osborne Road, Southsea, and owner Albert Choi said, after discussing the matter with Mr Jones, that he would stop serving the dish.

He decided it was better for the environment and better for his business.
