This year’s annual South Downs Show will raise awareness of the threat dogs pose to sheep in the national park.
With more than 15,000 sheep killed in the area due to dog attacks, show owner Terena Plowright wants to make dog owners more aware of the consequences of their pets’ actions.
She said: ‘Most dog owners are highly responsible and keep their dogs on leads near livestock but some people just do not realise that a dog chasing a sheep can cause a level of stress that can kill it later or cause it to abort any lambs it is carrying.’
The weekend show takes place this weekend at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.
