CHILDREN went back in time to see how the Victorians would have celebrated Christmas.
The Search museum, in Gosport, held a workshop giving children the chance to dress in Victorian clothes and make decorations.
Organised by the Hampshire Cultural Trust, the event yesterday morning saw around 50 children turn up.
Elizabeth Scott, from Rowner, took two of her children along.
Daisy, six, and Alfie, five, dressed as the master and mistress of the house.
Elizabeth said: ‘We saw this event in a newsletter and I remember bringing Daisy to one when she was younger.
‘They had a good time dressing up and decorating the tree.’
Daisy added: ‘The morning was fun. I liked it all.’
Search, on Clarence Road, opens up its Victorian rooms to schoolchildren and decided to hold a Christmas workshop this year.
Wendy Redman, education officer, said: ‘This is the first time we have done this for a few years.
‘The kids seemed to enjoy it.
‘They no longer teach the Victorians on the national curriculum so it is good the children can come here and learn about it.’
