CYCLING 50 miles a day across Vietnam and Cambodia has raised £10,000 for Cancer Research – and brought a smile to children in the countries.

Paul Widger, 42, his son Paul Widger junior, 22, and Mr Widger’s brother-in-law Tim Parsons, 41, cycled across the former war-torn countries for seven days on the trot.

During their amazing adventure, the trio handed out goodies, such as writing books, to local people they met.

Mr Widger, of Frogham Green, Warren Park, Havant, said: ‘We cycled through a lot of little villages and gave all our T-shirts, trainers, flip- flops, pens and writing books. We collected all the soaps and toothbrush stuff from the hotels on our journey and handed it all out on the last day.

‘It was great to see how pleased they all were with such small gifts.’

The family hope to present a cheque to Cancer Research UK in April.
