Kite festival returns to Portsmouth for 25th anniversary

Portsmouth International Kite Festival will be taking to the skies on August 13 and 14 at Southsea Common.

Crowds will be able to enjoy all the action for free with spectacular kites, flying demonstrations and a range of other attractions on offer.

Kite fliers from around the world will put on a colourful display of kites including swarms of snakes, frogs, lizards, whales and fish.

There will also be beautiful single-line kites, 3D soft kites and skilfully flown kites performing tricks and routines to music.

Cllr Linda Symes, Portsmouth City Council’s cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said: ‘This is one of the UK’s premier kite festivals and attracts kite fliers and visitors from around the world.

‘It’s great that one of Portsmouth’s most popular longstanding events is still going strong and celebrating its 25th year.’

The festival is on between 10am and 5pm.
