BELLY laughs are set to rip at The Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea tonight.

The final of the Foster’s South Coast Comedian of the Year competition will take place at 8pm as part of Portsmouth Festivities.

Some of the region’s best up-and-coming comics will battle it out for the title. Today’s other festivities highlights include two ‘meet the artist’ sessions. Italian sculptor Nicola Rivelli will be on HMS Warrior at 1pm and Chinese sculptor Jin He will be at the Kings Theatre in Southsea from 3pm.

Visitors to Portsmouth Grammar School will be able to see films being made at this very moment at a ‘Film in a day’ screening. Pupils from seven schools are making the films with iPads from 9am this morning, and must have them ready for the screening at 7.30pm.

There will be a free lecture about leadership by Professor Archie Brown at St John’s College in Southsea at midday today and to top off the day’s events the David Rees-Williams Trio will perform at the Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral at 9pm.
