A NEW drama group has been set up in Portsmouth following the success of a taster session.

Groundlings Theatre, in Kent Street, Portsea, invited people to come and learn more about the subject during Portsmouth’s Over-60s Festival, which finished on Friday.

The two-hour taster proved so popular members will now meet every Wednesday between 10am and midday. As part of the festival visitors were encouraged to turn up at the theatre and find out about its history. Richard Stride, the theatre’s artistic director, said, ‘The drama group that came in during the festival were really enthusiastic and simply didn’t want the session to finish.

‘Drama is something that can help with your everyday life. You don’t have to go on stage and it’s a really enjoyable way to spend a morning.’
