Have your say

GREEN-FINGERED residents have just two days left to enter The News Bloomin’ Marvellous contest.

You’ve got until the end of tomorrow to email us some high-quality pictures of your garden.

Though we’ve received scores of entries so far, we’re still looking for more.

Lawrence Craddock, of Milton, Portsmouth, sent in this stunning picture of his horticultural haven.

As his garden is on a corner it was difficult for him to fit the whole thing into one photograph.

Lawrence, 27, tends to it with his dad Richard, 62.

Lawrence said: ‘My dad and I care for it together.

‘It’s something I’ve been brought up to do.

‘The back garden is a nice place to be.

‘I like sitting out there.

‘We put a lot of work all year round into making it what it is. Some people think it’s something you can do in just two minutes.

‘We like to normally use a lot of bedding plants but this year it’s more of a rose garden.

‘When you come home from work it’s nice seeing all the colourful flowers. It’s become something of a landmark.

‘Some of the staff from St James’ Hospital stop by and make comments.

The News gardening guru Brian Kidd will draw up a short list of the best looking gardens before paying each one of them a visit sometime next month.

He will then decide upon a winner with reporter Miles O’Leary.

The winner picks up £100 in gardening vouchers from Garsons Garden Centre in Titchfield. There’s a second prize of £50 in vouchers and £25 for third place.

Though it’s too late to send us prints by post, we want you to email your pictures by midnight tomorrow to It doesn’t matter whether you’ve got a small or large garden – it’s the taking part that counts.
