A FREE wheelchair skills workshop for children is taking place this month.

Go Kids Go is running the event at Portchester Community School in White Hart Lane in Portchester from 9.30am to 3pm on Saturday, September 14.

Roy Wild, training manager for the charity, said: ‘Go Kids Go is a national charity that provides free training courses for young wheelchair users throughout the UK and Ireland.

‘In the workshop we teach skills such as back wheel balancing, so that you can go up and down kerbs independently, and we also play games like wheelchair basketball and try out wheelchair dance.

‘We bring extra wheelchairs so mums, dads and siblings can get involved and join in the games.’

The workshop is open to all young wheelchair users throughout the region, and is the only course of its type taking place in the area this year.

Anyone wishing to attend should call Mr Wild on 01482 887163. For more information go to go-kids-go.org.uk
