LETTER OF THE DAY: HGV battle is won. Pity PCC didn't tell us
I'm writing to ask what has happened to the common courtesy of our council's planning department staff in letting concerned residents know about the outcomes of planning disputes?
l am referring to our long battle to get a temporary road built to alleviate some of the heavy HGV traffic and pollution being generated going through Stamshaw.
The road link has finally been agreed, after a prolonged battle which has taken three years.
After numerous phone calls and emails – and even getting our local MPs’ interest – l was told in January this year that the leader of the council had at last signed off the legal agreement for the scheme to go ahead (at no cost to the council).
Thankfully, the Tipner Regeneration Company rang me to tell me the good news so that l could inform my neighbours that at last we had a victory and something to celebrate but, unfortunately, nothing from our elected officials or the planning department.
Despite all the frustrations in my dealings with them, I have always been courteous and did at least expect to hear about the successful outcome from one of them.
