Having witnessed what can only be the most abject game of football. I have seen in a very, very long time (Pompey v Blackpool, Feb 24), I’m left to wonder what has Kenny Jackett brought to this club?
I was upbeat when he was instated – especially as he promised us a brand of football to excite.
Sadly, I have seen precious little of this throughout the season so far. Does he ever show any emotion?
His use of youngsters needs to be applauded, but the policy of loaning players is detrimental to the team’s morale.
The players lack appetite or passion, an understanding of each other’s game, and struggle to complete a pass with any accuracy.
The goals conceded are naïve to say the least, but this policy of lobbing a hopeful ball forward is soul destroying.
I would like to see Jack Whatmough replace (Christian) Burgess. Burgess needs to spend a whole week’s training learning to pass a ball accurately.
Also, please give a free kick to someone other than Close; a child of five could predict the outcome.
Keep the ball on the floor and teach the players how to move into spaces to help each other out.
And, finally, a plea to Neil Allen. If you give any player in our team more than four this week, you need to hang your head in shame.
