IT WAS a dull evening in Gosport last night as street lamps across the town did not get turned on.

A fault with new technology, installed in the street lamps in order to save energy last year, meant that parts of Gosport, Lee-on-the-Solent and Stubbington were without light.

Executive member for transport and environment at Hampshire County Council Cllr Sean Woodward said the council would be working with its contractor SSE to investigate the problem.
