Cheeky Ray-Ray Easterbrook smiles for the camera and shows off the bonny face that captured our judges' hearts.

The youngster is the winner of The News annual Baby and Toddler of the Year competition - and with his angelic looks it's not hard to see why.

Delighted mum Amie Cann always thought her son had what it takes to be a model and was delighted to find out he'd won.

'There were so many babies in the competition and there were lots of lovely looking children in the final so it was a bit of a surprise when I found out he had won,' said the 23-year-old of Magpie Walk, Waterlooville.

'I'm so proud. I rang his dad Ray and my mum and they were so pleased.

'He's cheeky and always smiling. He's very photogenic.

'When I found out he'd won I was crying my eyes out. I was shouting and cheering. I've saved all the stories about the competition in his memory box so I'll be able to show him when he's older. He's always been a happy, smiley, baby.'

The youngster's name was given in honour of his dad, grandad and great-grandad - who were all called Ray.

It was a record year for entries with more than 1,700 children taking part in the competition. Public votes whittled down the numbers and our judges picked 33 children to go through to the final. They then chose an overall winner plus winners and runners-up in each age category.

Ray-Ray, who turned one this month, wins a seven-night holiday at Pontin's and a 24in by 20in acrylic mounted print. Lily-May Willett from Landport, Portsmouth, is the winner in the 10-18 month category. Sienna Cox, from Stamshaw, Portsmouth, is the winner in the 19-36 month category.

And Xylona Nadin, from Lee-on-the-Solent is the winner in the 37 months- five-years-old category.

They each win a three or four-night break at Pontin's, plus a 16inx12in acrylic mounted print.

Meanwhile Georgia-Mae Patterson, from Gosport, is the runner-up in the 0-nine months category.

Orlando Smallbones from Hilsea, Portsmouth, is the runner-up in the 10-18 month category. While Dexter Gilkerson from Milton, Portsmouth, is the runner-up in the 19-36 category.

And Leah Lindley, from Gosport, is the runner-up in the 37 months-five-years-old category. Runners-up receive a family photo shoot at Rob Paul Studios and a 50 voucher to spend on prints.
