A five-car pile has caused long delays on the M27 westbound between junction seven at Hege End and junction five at Southampton Airport.

No one was injured in the crash which happened at 8.02am today.

The three lanes were initially closed while the damage was cleared up, but all lanes were reopened now and the cars were being recovered.

However traffic remained very slow moving as the backlog clears and police were not sure how long it would take for traffic to return to normal.

The congestion reached as far as junction eight at Bursledon.
