An accident involving several vehicles caused long delays for drivers on the A27 today.

The crash at the approach to the Fishbourne roundabout near Chichester caused hold-ups for drivers heading east.

Reports said as many as six vehicles were involved in the collision just before 8am.

Highways England said that Sussex Police cleared the incident just after 10am and re-opened all lanes eastbound between A259 and A286 near Chichester.

However they warned that delays remained.

Traffic officials reported tailbacks from Emsworth with motorists taking almost an hour to get past the scene of the accident, which happened shortly before 8am.
