FAREHAM is holding an afternoon of fun before the torch’s arrival, so people are advised to come early and enjoy it all.

There will be entertainment in the town centre from 2pm, including a community parade at 3.15pm,

The relay will start in East Street at 4.30pm, leaving the borough on the A32 at about 4.55pm.

Long-stay car parks at Bath Lane, Osborn Road West, Youth Centre, The Gillies, Lysses and Holy Trinity Church, will all be free.

Council leader, Cllr Sean Woodward, said: ‘We hope to create a carnival atmosphere to welcome the torchbearers along the route.

‘I hope many local residents will join in and enjoy the celebration of this momentous occasion.’
