THE Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire has said she will work all the way up to her 75th birthday.

Dame Mary Fagan was appointed as Lord Lieutenant in 1994 and is Her Majesty’s representative in the county.

Her role is to represent the crown in the county.

In accordance with the Lieutenancies Act 1997, Lord Lieutenants have to retire on their 75th birthday – Dame Mary is 75 in September 2014.

A statement from her office said: ‘Up until then it is very much business as usual.’
