A LORRY driver from Portsmouth was not hurt in a head-on collision that left a woman dead.

The crash happened on the A309 Romsey bypass when a silver Vauxhall Combo was in collision with a white Volvo tipper lorry.

The back seat passenger in the Vauxhall, a 57-year-old woman from Romsey, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver sustained minor injuries.

The 38-year-old lorry driver was uninjured following the crash, which happened at about 2.25pm yesterday.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Call Sergeant Andy Lynch at the Road Reath Investigation Team at Eastleigh on 101, quoting operation Elmshurst.
