CARING Louise Ponting has returned from a three-month conservation project trip where she helped people improve their day-to-day lives.

Louise, of Comfrey Close, Horndean, has spent two months in Borneo and one month in Cambodia, and has been taking part in volunteer work.

The 23-year-old said: ‘I had an amazing time and did so much while I was away.

‘When I was based near Kudat, in the north west of Borneo I built a kindergarten, taught in a local school and did some landscaping in the local village.’

Louise is also busy raising £3,000 for children’s charity Action Medical Research.

She will be taking part in the Machu Picchu trek in the Inca Trail, Peru.

The charity has been running for almost 60 years and relies entirely on donatipons.

It supports babies and young children and money received is used to help tackle premature births and help children who are disabled or suffer from infections.

Its celebrity supporters include television presenter Davina McCall and pop star Tony Hadley.
