TRAFFIC was backed up on the M27 after a lorry broke down on the motorway.

One lane was closed on the M27 westbound, between J12 for Portsmouth and the M275 and J11, for Fareham.

The incident happened shortly after 4pm yesterday.

The lorry was pulled to one side as it awaited recovery.

The section of the motorway was opened half an hour later once the lorry had been towed away.
