RUNNERS of all abilities are being encouraged to take part in a fun run to benefit young people.

The Pebble Dash is a three-mile run along Southsea beach, on the stones rather than the promenade, for Motiv8. It has been organised by Louise Fitzgerald, a volunteer support worker for the charity Motiv8 and Patryk Huczkowski, a personal trainer with Balance PT.

Patryk has supported Motiv8 by running seven marathons in seven days and won this year’s Portsmouth Duathlon series.

Patryk said: ‘Having supported Motiv8 in the past, I know that the work it does is worthwhile and gets results for young people.’

The fun run is on September 8 and is open to anyone aged 16 and over. It starts at 9.30am at South Parade Pier and goes to Eastney and back to the pier.

Louise said: ‘Everyone should come along for a fun morning’s run along the stones by the water. As a novice runner, I know the distance is achievable. And I love the idea of being part of an event that benefits local young people.

‘I originally came to Motiv8 to volunteer as part of my social work studies. Witnessing the great work that Motiv8 does and how much it alters the lives of young people made me want to give more.’

Motiv8 works with people across Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham, Leigh Park, Hayling Island and Waterlooville, offering support and guidance as well as help finding work or training. To register for the run individually or as a team go to
