Police have arrested a man after a woman was found stabbed.

The woman was taken to hospital on Boxing Day after police were called to a property in Gosport.

Det Sgt Nicky Turton, of Gosport CID, said: 'In the evening of December 26 police were called to an address in Gosport.

'A 54 year-old female was found with stab wounds and is currently in hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening. A 57 year-old male has been arrested in connection with this incident and is assisting police with their enquires.

'No other persons are being sought. Our enquiries are continuing to establish how the female received the injuries.'

Police have refused to release any further details.
