A MAN was cut free from his car after driving into a brick wall in Portsmouth.

Firefighters were called to the incident at Whitstable Road, Wymering, at midnight last night to cut the roof from the car and free the driver.

It was believed the man had spinal and head injuries and he was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, by ambulance as soon as he was freed.

He had also crashed into a parked car before hitting the wall.

Two fire crews from Cosham and a special equipment unit attended the incident and worked on the scene for around 40 minutes.
