A MAN was punched and kicked in the head by a gang of robbers in a late-night attack.

Police have revealed that the 23-year-old victim was assaulted by three men in St Ronan's Road, Southsea, at about 3.30am on Sunday.

They stole about 60 before fleeing the scene.

The victim was treated by ambulance crews at the scene for minor facial injuries.

Now police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Toby Wilson, who is investigating, said: 'Although this robbery happened in the early hours of the morning, it's believed the suspects walked from the Strand then up Waverley Road before heading into St Ronan's Road with the aggrieved.

'As such, they covered a number of main roads in Southsea and were wearing some distinctive clothing.'

The first suspect is described as a white man, aged between 19 and 20, 5ft 8in, of a slim build, with short, ginger hair.

He wore blue jeans and a blue and green checked shirt.

The second man is also white, aged 23 to 24, 6ft 2ins tall, of a slim build, with dark hair in a comb-over style.

He wore blue jeans and a blue and green checked shirt. The third man is aged between 18 and 20, 6ft 2in, of a slim build and wore blue jeans and a white and black checked shirt.
