FIREFIGHTERS rescued a man from the roof of a terraced house in Portsmouth early today.

A crew from Southsea used their aerial platform to bring down the man who had clambered on to the top of the building in Knox Road, Stamshaw, about 1.30am.

Crew manager Paul Grant said: ‘Why the man had decided to go up there at that time we don’t know.

‘When we got the aerial ladder up to him he was quite happy to come down.’ Firefighters left the scene about 2.15am.

He said the man was taken by ambulance to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, for checks.
