PASSENGERS returning to Portsmouth were delayed for an hour after a crew member had to be airlifted to hospital.

The Brittany Ferries service from Caen, France, to Portsmouth, was due to arrive at 8.30pm yesterday.

But a ferry spokesman said an unknown medical emergency resulted in one crew member being flown to Southampton General Hospital.

It meant the service was disrupted for an hour.
