Have your say

SO, what is it you like about The News?

Or is there anything about our daily diet of news, sport, information and entertainment that leaves a bad taste in your mouth?

Is there something we should be doing more on?

Or is there a particular area of our coverage that we are just not doing enough of?

This week you’ll be able to give me your thoughts in person as I set out on a tour of the patch with another Readers’ Roadshow.

I want to hear your ideas on what we should be considering to make your favourite local paper even better.

And for all of you who pop along for a chat, if you buy a copy of The News I’ll again be handing out envelopes which may contain £5 in cash, lottery scratchcards or other prizes.

Starting out life as a journalist, one of the best things about the job was getting to meet people. That pleasure has not dimmed throughout my career which has seen me, with great pride, take up the editor’s chair at The News.

The last time we set up a roadshow was when we made changes to the paper last October – all based on what you had been telling us you wanted. So part of next week will be a chance to hear from you how these changes have bedded down.

At that time we increased our coverage of stories across each of our editions, including launching separate editions for Fareham and Gosport.

New features included our Community Views columns, pages celebrating the work of our local schools and community groups, more pictures from events across the area and more nostalgia along with daily court lists and weekly planning lists.

We also brought back a Weekend magazine with improved and increased content… along with a new cover price for Saturday’s paper. So come along for a chat at the venues in the panel.

I’d seriously love to have a talk.

I can learn more about what you want in the paper – and you could walk away £5 richer!

COME and take part in the Readers’ Roadshow.

Editor of The News Mark Waldron would be happy to see as many people as possible from midday to 2pm.
