LANDLADY Sarah got a taste for life behind the bar after helping her sister run her pub.

The 42-year-old’s sister Vicki, 46, recently stepped down as the landlady of The Green Posts, in London Road, Copnor, to set up another business.

Growing up saw Sarah take a different career path.

She attended Mayfield School before becoming a dab hand at being a painter and decorator in Warmington, Northamptonshire.

After splitting with her partner, Sarah found herself back in Portsmouth three years ago. She said: ‘I couldn’t find any work as a painter and decorator so I started helping my sister out at her pub.

‘I enjoyed doing bits of bar work and it meant I was able to get by for a while.’

Soon eager Sarah rose through the ranks and became assistant manager of The Golden Hind pub, Copnor Road, Copnor. Now she is relishing her new venture as landlady of The Portsbridge, Cosham. She said: ‘I’ve met the most amazing people along the way.

‘Now I want to make a difference.’
