Meeting is told nature area is a real asset for Waterlooville

A BEAUTY spot continues to develop into a fantastic asset for the community.

That was the message at a recent meeting for the steering group for the Billy’s Lake project, in Waterlooville.

The site, which is close to the Acorn Centre in Wecock Farm, continues to provide a base for many groups both young, and not so young, to get out into the fresh air and get involved with nature.

Ann Water, chairwoman and trustee of the group, said: ‘What an incredible year we have just had.

‘We now have steps to take you to the lakeside; the lake has been re-stocked with fish and fishermen have arrived.

‘I am particularly pleased that the disabled path down to the water has also been completed.’

Jon Candlish-Welford, a conservation specialist, and Roger Pulley, a local resident, reported at the meeting that the connecting path from the car park on Hambledon Road still needs further funding to enable it to be completed.
