A TORY MP has hit out at Lib Dems in a neighbouring constituency after they approved plans for 1,400 new homes.

Lib Dem-led Eastleigh Borough Council voted on Monday to allow the new homes in Botley.

But Mike Thornton, the Lib Dem candidate for the parliamentary by-election for Eastleigh has issued campaign leaflets pledging to protect green spaces.

Meon Valley MP George Hollingbery said: ‘The Lib Dems are facing both ways on green space. Their campaign has consistently pledged to protect our beautiful countryside. But the Lib Dem council showed they have no intention of backing down on their plans to build on greenfield sites.’
