A YELLOW weather warning was issued last night.

The Met Office is warning of possible sleet and hail as well as wind and rain from until midday today and further heavy rain tomorrow. Portsmouth and surrounding areas are expected to miss the worst of the bad weather but could still get strong winds and rain.

Following the warning, Hampshire County Council had its highways teams at the ready to keep the roads clear. Extra highway crews were on standby.
