Milan backs Westwood against away bans

HE'S THE most instantly-recognisable fan in the country with his stovepipe hat, curly blue wig, bugle and bell.

But John Portsmouth Football Club Westwood believes he is being victimised after being thrown out of two Premiership grounds.

Blues chairman Milan Mandaric believes Westwood is being treated unfairly and is ready to step in to help.

Westwood, 40, who is an antiquarian bookseller, has travelled to every Pompey game for 24 years.

He said: 'I just get the feeling that they don't want fans like me at Premiership grounds. They just want fans to hand over their money, sit down, shut up and clear off home again.'

Mandaric, who once made Westwood Pompey supporter of the year, said: 'John is not a violent man. He gets behind the team in his own way and doesn't hurt anyone.'
