Navy pays tribute to sailors who lost their lives in Fareham base bombing

THERE’S as bumper crop of culture on the calendar for Portsmouth Festivities today. n Abstract painter Zhon Ya, from China, will host a workshop aboard HMS Warrior at 1pm.

- Isabel Howson, the winner of last year’s Portsmouth Music Festival recital prize, will perform at Portsmouth Grammar School in Old Portsmouth at 6pm.

- Trash, a film telling the story of three Brazilian children, will be shown at Boathouse No.6 at Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard at 6pm.

- An exhibition evening featuring Italian sculptor Nicola Rivelli and fibreglass sculptor Jin He is at the Kings Theatre in Southsea at 6pm.

- There will be choral evensong at Portsmouth’s Anglican Cathedral at 6pm.

- A heat in the All About the Song contest will take place at The Cellars at Eastney from 8pm.

- Hansel and Gretel will be performed at the Gatehouse Studio at Portsmouth Grammar School from 7.30pm.

- The Peatbog Faeries will perform on board HMS Warrior at 7.30pm.
