A motorcyclist has suffered a ‘serious leg injury’ after a collision with a car on the A27 this morning.

Drivers faced delays of up to an hour after the incident on the westbound route near to the Portsbridge roundabout.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said it was contacted by police shortly after 8.30am.

He added: ‘We currently have an ambulance at the scene who have reported that the male rider has sustained a serious leg injury.’

The rider was taken to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Southampton.

Traffic was queuing back to the turn-off to Hayling Island, but delays are now clearing.
