Motorists warned of eight-week long roadworks in Fareham

MOTORISTS are being asked to allow more time for their journeys after work to improve the A27 in Fareham started.

Advance works to excavate and divert utilities in The Avenue got under way, and they will last eight weeks.

Cllr Seán Woodward, executive member for transport at Hampshire County Council, said: ‘This is the start of improvement works along The Avenue to help increase capacity at key junctions, helping the flow of traffic during busy times.

‘We will do all we can to minimise disruption during the works, but would ask people to allow more time for their journeys during this time.’

The plan is to increase capacity and alleviate congestion at Station roundabout and the A27 at Gudge Heath Lane and Redlands Lane. This includes widening the A27 and providing an additional lane.
