FILM lovers are being treated to an eco-themed movie night to help provoke thought into the way the issue of climate change is handled.

Portsmouth Film Society is holding a special film evening centred around two thought-provoking movies – Beyond the Tipping Point and In Transition.

The first film, Beyond Tipping Point, encourages people to look at their own attitudes towards the issue and the ways it is responded to across the globe.

Through the voices of 25 people from a variety of backgrounds and nationalities, it looks at how the future is imagined, and how this shapes our present actions.

In Transition focuses on how communities adapt to a shift away from fossil fuels.

It is the first detailed movie about the movement and is filmed by people around the world who are encouraging their own communities to change.

The event is being held with the Portsmouth Climate Action Network.

Sue James, from the network, said: ‘We’re excited to be showing these films as they both offer a new take on how we can deal with climate change and the dwindling supply of oil.

‘And they show us lots of ideas for building a better future’.

The eco evening starts at 7pm tonight in the Omega Centre, on Omega Street in Somers Town.

Entry is £1.
