MP praises summer project for youngsters

AN MP has praised an initiative run for youngsters.

Caroline Dinenage, Gosport MP, said the Summer Passport Scheme was ‘fantastic’ in offering activities.

The project, which has been running since 2008, provides activities for secondary school pupils.

It is run by Gosport Borough Council for young people in Gosport and Fareham.

This year it was on for three weeks with events in Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent.

Activities included pizza-making, bricklaying, face painting and off-road biking.

Ms Dinenage said: ‘I was delighted to see so many young people taking advantage of Gosport Summer Passport Scheme once again this year.

‘It provides some really unique experiences for young people and encourages them to get out of the house during the school break, try different hobbies and meet new people.

‘It is fantastic that Gosport Borough Council and its partners provide a range of free activities to reduce potential anti-social behaviour during these long holidays.’
