BUDDING music stars are being given their chance to shine, as auditions for Live and Unsigned take place in the city.

Hundreds of acts are expected to turn out for the auditions in the hope of making it through to the regional final showcase stage of the national competition, which is held in front of a live audience. Acts that make it through the regional heats will then perform live at The O2, in London, as part of the grand finale event, Live Fest, in a bid to bag themselves £10,000 cash for developing their music and a global tour.

Last year more than 10,000 acts entered nationally and organisers hope there will be even more this year.

Chris Grayston, the competition’s events director, said: ‘We’re looking forward to seeing how much talent there is in Portsmouth.’

Auditions take place in Highlight, Gunwharf Quays, on Saturday.
