THE Royal Navy Volunteer Band from HMS Nelson is performing a charity concert at Portsmouth Cathedral in aid of Cancer Research UK tonight.

The concert, which is being held from 7.30pm, will feature over 40 musicians, including the Royal Navy Pipers Association and the award-winning Corps of Drums, which will play a programme of music including Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.

Band Colour Sergeant Simon Nicholls RM, who will be conducting on the night said: ‘This will be an exciting night for the band.

‘Not only will it be a chance for us to raise money for a very worthy charity, but it will be a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy some rousing British classics.’

The concert is in aid of Cancer Research UK, and many of those performing at the concert will be taking part in Race for Life in Portsmouth during July.

Tickets start at £8, with concessions and children £6.

They are available from the Box Office on 02392 724 187.
