Naval base's security remains the same as always

PORTSMOUTH Naval Base is not taking any extra security precautions in light of an increased level of threat from Northern Ireland.

MI5 has increased the level of threat posed by Northern Ireland-related terrorism from moderate to substantial – the third most serious category out of five.

The threat level to the UK from international terrorism remains at severe.

A spokesman for the base said no additional measures were being put in place on top of the security regime already in place.
