FIREFIGHTERS tackled a bedroom blaze in an empty home before it spread to other houses.
Three fire engines from Southsea fire station were called to Harrow Road in Southsea at about 9pm tonight.
The fire was in a bedroom at the back of the house and left the first floor severely damaged.
Fire crews put out the fire and checked the loft space to ensure it would not spread into other properties.
Watch manager Jason Boh said: ‘We turned up and there was smoke issuing from the property.
‘All the residents were out of the house.
‘No persons were reported inside and there was nothing hazardous in there.’
It was part of a busy night for crews from Southsea who were also called to deal with a spate of bin fires earlier in the evening.
