A NEW council-run art space is being formally launched in Southsea tomorrow.

The First Floor Gallery at Southsea Library in Palmerston Road is hosting an exhibition called Orbit by Southsea artist Katayoun Dowlatshahi.

Her work was inspired by a former cold war secret rocket testing facility on the Isle of Wight and the role played by the island in the early days of the British space programme.

The exhibition will be opened at a private view tomorrow by Councillor Lee Hunt, the cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport. It will be open to the public from Sunday until January 28 during library opening times. Go to
