THIS new pergola at Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve has gone down well with dog walkers.
County councillor for Fareham and Titchfield Geoff Hockley unveiled the eight-sided shelter at, which cost £1,800 out of his budget.
It was built near the cafe at the reserve at the request of a regular dog walker.
Previously there was nowhere for dog owners to shelter if it was raining, as the cafe does not let animals in, so walkers were stuck in the rain.
So now they are grateful for somewhere to stay dry.
Cllr Hockley said: ‘It was a reasonable request and struck me as being for a very good cause. They’re delighted that they’ve now got somewhere to sit outside, regardless of the weather.’
There will be some seats installed inside for people to sit down and enjoy the garden.
