PLANNING applications for minerals and waste development will now have to jump through an extra hoop following a move by Hampshire County Council.

The council has added extra rules to its Hampshire Minerals and Waste Plan, meaning development applications will have to measure up to the policies set out in the plan.

Councillor Sean Woodward said: ‘This is a strong plan designed to protect Hampshire’s environment while at the same time maintaining local communities and supporting the economy.

‘Our approach is about ensuring the right development in the right place at the right time.’
