PASSENGERS face continued disruption on Monday morning as hovercraft services remain suspended.

All hovercraft between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight are cancelled as The Maritime and Coastguard Agency continues its safety checks.

The MCA suspended two craft – Freedom 90 and Island Express – on Thursday evening after concerns over the propellers. It came after the propeller of a third craft, Solent Express, snapped off on October 30.

Loretta Lale, commercial manager at Hovertravel, said a decision about reinstating the service would be made at 2pm on Monday.

She said: ‘All passengers with Season or Travel Cards and those with pre-paid tickets will be provided with a free of charge voucher from Hovertravel, which will enable them to travel on Wightlink services.

‘We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience caused.

‘We are confident that, with the support of the entire Hovertravel team, and the MCA, we will complete this process as quickly as we can.’
