CROWDS of skaters are expected at a brand new state of the art skate park.

The Chichester skate park was officially opened at Westgate Leisure Centre, yesterday, and includes a host of features.

There is a concrete half-pipe with wide platforms, a jump box, a transition ledge, flat hip, long rail, a quarter pipe and several other attractions for bikers, rollerbladers and skateboarders to explore.

To mark the opening Chichester District Council and ESP Skate Shop have organised a skating event on September 25.

From 10am onwards, competitions will take place for bikes, blades and boards, with prizes and freebies.

The competition will be free to enter.

Registration will take place on the day, and those aged under 16 will require parental consent.

Helmets and pads are compulsory.
