BOYS and girls football and rugby teams at a secondary school will take to the pitch in new kits thanks to a donation.
Property developer Linden Homes South has given Swanmore College 12 sets of football shorts, socks and shirts and 20 sets of rugby tops and shorts.
Linden Homes managing director Peter Youll said he was delighted the firm had made the donation, and said was pleased they were able to do something positive for the community.
Mr Youll said: ‘We are always committed to supporting residents, families, schools and colleges in the areas where we are building.
‘The pupils look really smart in their new kits, so we hope they get lots of use out on the pitches.’
The two-tone blue uniforms have Linden South labels on the front.
The donation was also a form of thank you to the school, as the developer is building an estate next door called Scholars Grange.
Mr Youll said the school, its pupils and nearby residents had been patient and understanding during the construction of the new homes.
He said: ‘We know that sometimes there can be some inconvenience and noise during a build and we really appreciate the patience and understanding that we receive from local people.
‘It’s our way of saying thank you.’
The school’s headteacher Kyle Jonathan said he was delighted with the new sports kits.
Mr Jonathan said the kits suited the pupils well and the school would get a lot of use out of them.
He said: ‘We would like to thank Linden Homes for its generosity in providing our new football and rugby kits, which the pupils at Swanmore College will enjoy for many years to come.’
Swanmore College is home to Swanmore Leisure, which includes a variety of community facilities such as a fitness suite with 28 well-equipped stations.
Scolars Grange includes 61 three, four and five bedroom houses on roads off New Road.
