DESPITE firefighter strikes over the weekend, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to all its call within target times of within 20 minutes.

The latest round of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) industrial action in Hampshire took place on Friday and Saturday night.

FBU-member firefighters from Southsea, Cosham, Havant, Gosport and Fareham, staged the protest over an on-going row over changes to pensions.

The fire service said that during the strikes, there was around 40 fire appliances – 50 per cent of its usual number.
