PEOPLE are being encouraged to nominate inspirational individuals and groups for awards.

The Portsmouth Inspiring Volunteer Awards recognise volunteers who make a difference. Organised by Portsmouth Together and Pompey in the Community, the awards are funded through support from businesses in the area.

People can be nominated for:

n Environment and Conservation supported by Snows BMWi

n My Community supported by The Southern Co-operative

n Arts, Culture and Heritage supported by IBM UK

n Community Sport supported by Colas

n Health and Wellbeing supported by ValueYou

n Education and Mentoring supported by Irwin Mitchell Solicitors

Each category contains an individual and a team award. Up to three nominees will be short-listed for each award by a panel of judges with the winners announced at Fratton Park on June 6, during Volunteers’ Week. The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Councillor David Fuller, said: ‘The awards are our chance to celebrate the amazing things we can accomplish when we work together.’

Nominations can be registered online until March 26 by visiting
